WHO ARE WE?
Chain Reaction Robotics (CRR) is a robotics team based in Plano Senior High School. The robotics club was originally an engineering club started by students. Three students stumbled upon the FIRST Robotics Competition and decided to participate in the international competition. The students brought together a team of coaches, mentors, and students. Together the team created an environment for the entire process of FIRST Robotics Competition. CRR is a student based team and allows the students to learn about the process of project management with the support of coaches and mentors.
The club continues to grow and also has started Scientific Research and Development class that supports the club. Every year the membership increases. Chain Reaction Robotics was created to foster a love of science and technology in the local community. The team hopes to continue spreading STEM to a variety of people; this includes working to find visibility through outreach and sponsorships.
Every year, CRR participates in multiple different competitions including FIRST Robotics Competition in the spring and CoCo BEST in the fall. Sponsors will help the team financially, specifically with registration, transportation, workspace, production parts, and outreach programs. Sponsorship to the team will also inspire students of all ages to experience the STEM program. Furthermore, they are exposed to thousands of teams around the world at the competitions.
We are part of a chain reaction!
CRR believes in using the experiences made on the team to build a stable foundation, impact the community, and apply robotics to real world situations. The team hopes to establish a tradition in the school school and community through teamwork, passion, and dedication. Plano Senior High School has a tradition of excellence. Go Wildcats!
To impact the community, CRR hopes to inspire STEM opportunities and create an interest to pursuing STEM programs. The team has and will continue to encourage others through outreach to elementary schools, middle schools, and junior high schools. Moreover, the team makes sure to influence younger children through demos at events such as TI Kid Day and Ericsson Tech Camp. CRR has been building a foundation by developing vision and structure for the future generations. The team is currently working on archives and a team library as well as implementing network and business partnerships. Lastly, real world applications can be found in every corner of the team. Each member is providing different skills from basic engineering skills to business and marketing. The entire team is a giant project held together by individuals who give it their all.
Chain Reaction Robotics (FRC 6171) was created to foster a love of science and technology in the local community. Studies have shown that participants in the FIRST Robotics Competition are:
- Three times more likely to major in engineering
- More than twice as likely to pursue a career in science or technology
- Twice as likely to volunteer in their communities
